Join us at Feast & Fareway at Coronado Golf Course on Friday, February 28, 2025 for the launch of the recently published book, The History of Shipyards in San Diego. Written by esteemed 50-year NASSCO retiree and maritime enthusiast, D.K. Askew, the book chronicles the intertwined history of the local navy, the fishing industry and the Port of San Diego, the Great Depression, and two World Wars. It sheds light on these events’ significant roles in shaping the local shipbuilding industry of today. The book details the origins of 25 local shipyards that existed over the last 125 years.
